[WATCH] Riley Meredith Dismisses David Warner With A Stunning Delivery

David Warner’s return to the BBL after a nine-year absence has not gone well. He scored 19 runs in the previous game and hit a second-ball duck for Sydney Thunder on Sunday (January 15). The team needed the southpaw to shine against the Hobart Hurricanes in their 11th game of the season. Warner’s return, however, has not been fruitful, with the man scoring only 19 runs in two matches.

Many expected the southpaw to go big in this game after getting a feel for BBL in the previous game. Riley Meredith, a fast bowler, had other plans. He took the new ball in his hands and castled David Warner in the first over.

He rushed in to bowl the final ball of the over and bowled an absolute peach to break through the batter’s defence. It was a yorker, which Warner had not expected, and to make matters worse, the ball swung in the air, disturbing his furniture.

Here is the video:

Sydney Thunder were never able to recover from their early loss. They were reeling at 24/4 at one point after losing four wickets in the powerplay. Olivier Davies, on the other hand, stood tall for his team, scoring 45 runs off 36 balls with three fours and two sixes. The other two batters to reach the 20-run mark were Ben Cutting and Chris Green. They were eventually bundled out for only 135 runs.

Nathan Ellis was the star bowler for the Hurricanes picking up four wickets while Patrick Dooley and Riley Meredith returned with three and two wickets respectively.

The Hurricanes courtesy of Tim David’s half-century scored 76 runs off 41 balls which included 5 fours and 6 sixes striking at 185.37. Matthew Wade played a supporting role of 30 runs in order to ensure they win by 5 wickets.
