Rishabh Pant preps for 2nd Test; Arshdeep Singh eyes potential debut
Rishabh Pant delivered a stellar individual performance in the opening Test at Leeds, scoring centuries in both innings and breaking several records in the process. In India’s first innings, the left-hander notched up 134 runs from 178 deliveries, hitting 12 fours and six sixes at a strike rate of 75.28.
He continued his fine form in the second innings with another impressive knock of 118 off 140 balls, which included 15 boundaries and three sixes, maintaining a strike rate of 84.29. Meanwhile, Arshdeep Singh could be in line for a potential Test debut.
With Jasprit Bumrah expected to be rested for the second match, India might consider either Arshdeep Singh or Akash Deep as his replacement. Arshdeep, being a left-arm pacer, stands a better chance of making the playing XI. His recent experience in County cricket with Kent adds to his credentials.
Known for his ability to swing the ball both ways, Arshdeep’s skills with the new ball could be especially valuable against England’s strong opening pair, particularly in Bumrah’s absence.
