India’s chase in the Champions Trophy 2025 match against Pakistan got off to a blazing start, thanks to Rohit Sharma’s aggressive batting. Chasing a target of 242 at the Dubai International Stadium, Rohit was in attacking mode from the outset. He scored a quick 20 off just 15 balls before being dismissed. During the second over of India’s innings, he took on Pakistan’s pace spearhead, Naseem Shah, with an audacious display of stroke play.
Rohit first guided a delivery over the slip cordon for a boundary, showing his intent early in the innings. Moments later, he dispatched a back-of-length delivery for a massive six over deep backward square leg. The perfectly timed shot left fans in awe, and his wife, Ritika Sajdeh’s, reaction went viral on social media.

The six came off a delivery angling onto his thigh pad, which Rohit picked early and effortlessly lifted into the second tier. Naseem, left stunned, could only watch as Rohit shrugged off the moment with his signature nonchalance.
Virat Kohli Sets a Fielding Record
Apart from Rohit’s fireworks, the match saw Virat Kohli achieve a significant milestone in ODI cricket. The former Indian captain overtook Mohammad Azharuddin to become India’s top fielder in terms of catches, with 158 career grabs. Kohli accomplished this feat when he caught Naseem Shah off Kuldeep Yadav’s bowling in the 47th over. He later added another catch, dismissing Khushdil Shah in the final over, further strengthening his record.
Kohli now sits atop an elite list that includes legendary cricketers like Azharuddin (156 catches), Sachin Tendulkar (140), Rahul Dravid (124), and Suresh Raina (102). In addition to his fielding exploits, Kohli is also on the verge of another major batting achievement. With just 15 runs needed, he is closing in on the 14,000-run mark in ODIs, a milestone achieved only by the likes of Sachin Tendulkar and Kumar Sangakkara.
India’s Bowling Sparks Pakistan’s Collapse
Earlier in the match, Pakistan opted to bat first after winning the toss. Their innings started on a solid note with a crucial 104-run partnership between Saud Shakeel (62) and Mohammad Rizwan (46). However, despite this foundation, Pakistan struggled to maintain momentum, scoring at a sluggish rate.
At 151-2, they seemed well-placed to post a competitive total beyond 250, but India’s bowlers triggered a dramatic collapse. The Pakistani batting order crumbled under pressure, with the team ultimately being dismissed for 241. This set the stage for India’s chase, which began with Rohit Sharma’s electrifying stroke play before the middle order took charge to see the team through.
