Rajasthan Royals (RR) all-rounder Riyan Parag showed visible frustration after a controversial dismissal during the IPL 2025 clash against Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The cricketer from Assam engaged in a brief argument with the umpire before reluctantly walking back, seemingly believing that the sound came from his bat hitting the ground rather than an edge.
The incident took place in the seventh over on Wednesday. Parag had looked threatening at the crease, having already hit three sixes in his 26-run knock. Facing left-arm pacer Kulwant Khejroliya, he attempted to play a near-yorker delivery but appeared to edge it to the wicketkeeper. The umpire quickly raised his finger, suspecting a nick.
Although Parag immediately opted for a review, the third umpire upheld the on-field decision, confirming the dismissal of the 23-year-old. You can watch the dismissal video here:

Kulwant Khejroliya’s wicket ended the 48-run stand between Riyan Parag and skipper Sanju Samson, providing the Gujarat Titans with a much-needed breakthrough.
Riyan Parag’s Crucial Cameo Helps Rajasthan Royals Defeat Punjab Kings
After a quiet start to the IPL season, Riyan Parag rediscovered his form during an away fixture against the Punjab Kings at the Maharaja Yadavindra Stadium in Mullanpur. The Assam-born batter played a crucial knock, scoring 43 off 25 balls, including three fours and three sixes, helping Rajasthan Royals post a formidable 205/4.
The inaugural IPL champions went on to win the match by 50 runs, marking their second straight victory of the season. In the earlier clash against Gujarat Titans, RR skipper Sanju Samson opted to bowl first after winning the toss. Jofra Archer struck early, dismissing Shubman Gill cheaply, but B Sai Sudharsan anchored the Titans’ innings with a well-paced 82 off 53 balls.
Supporting contributions came from Jos Buttler (36), Shahrukh Khan (36), and Rahul Tewatia (24*), guiding the home side to a total of 217/6. For the Royals, only Parag, Samson, and Shimron Hetmyer managed to get into double digits with the bat, yet they chased down the target convincingly, winning by 58 runs.
Prasidh Krishna was the standout performer with the ball, finishing with impressive figures of 3 for 24 in his four overs.
