[WATCH]- Rohit Sharma Back In Action As Captain For IND vs PAK 2025 Champions Trophy Clash

Indian captain and opener Rohit Sharma briefly left the field during the ongoing match against Pakistan at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, raising injury concerns. During his absence, Shubman Gill took over as the stand-in captain.

Earlier, Mohammed Shami also walked off after experiencing a slight injury scare in his second over. Washington Sundar temporarily replaced him on the field before Shami returned to bowl the 12th over.

Similarly, Rohit appeared to be struggling but was back on the field shortly, easing any injury worries. With his quick return, India remains focused on chasing a competitive target. You can watch the video here:

Rohit Sharma rejoined the field in the 17th over, during which vice-captain Shubman Gill took charge of the two-time Champions Trophy winners in his absence.

Mohammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel anchor Pakistan’s innings against India in the 2025 Champions Trophy clash

Opting to bat first, Pakistan faced early setbacks towards the end of the powerplay, losing both openers—Babar Azam (23 off 26) and Imam-ul-Haq (10 off 26)—within six deliveries.  However, Mohammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel steadied the innings, forming a vital partnership to rebuild Pakistan’s innings in this high-stakes encounter.

As of the latest update, Pakistan stands at 121/2 after 28 overs. A victory for India in this match would secure their spot in the semi-finals of the 2025 Champions Trophy.

The ongoing match is a must-win clash for Pakistan, who suffered a 60-run defeat against New Zealand in their opening game. A loss to India would eliminate them from the tournament, ending their hopes of defending the Champions Trophy title they won in 2017 by defeating India convincingly.

Meanwhile, India enters the contest after a six-wicket victory over Bangladesh. A win against arch-rivals Pakistan would secure their spot in the semifinals. India last won the Champions Trophy in 2013 under MS Dhoni’s captaincy, defeating hosts England in the final.
