[WATCH]- Rohit Sharma Gets Out Cheaply On Day 2 Of The 4th Test

Team India captain Rohit Sharma‘s return to the opening position made little impact as he was dismissed for another single-figure score on day two of the fourth Test against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). The right-handed batter played a loose shot as Pat Cummins, with the new ball, made the breakthrough.

The dismissal came in the second over, as the Australian captain chose to take the new ball. Cummins bowled a back-of-a-length delivery, and Rohit attempted a half-hearted pull shot that barely traveled. Scott Boland easily took the catch on the on-side, marking Australia’s first breakthrough.

Rohit missed the opening Test of the series in Perth due to paternity leave, with Jasprit Bumrah leading the team in his absence. India, however, secured a dominant 295-run victory, taking a 1-0 series lead.

After Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul performed well in the second innings in Perth, the Indian captain chose to bat at number six in Adelaide and Brisbane but managed scores of 3, 6, and 10 in the three innings he played.

Meanwhile, the Australians delivered their best batting performance of the series so far. Their top four—Sam Konstas (60), Usman Khawaja (57), Marnus Labuschagne (72), and Steve Smith (140)—all contributed significantly, unlike in the first three Tests.

After Cummins won the toss, the opening pair of Konstas and Khawaja put together an 89-run stand to get things underway. Australia resumed Day 2 at 311/6 and added 143 runs in the opening session, losing only one wicket as Cummins was dismissed by Ravindra Jadeja for 49.

However, Smith continued his innings, scoring his 34th Test century and 11th against India, helping Australia reach 474.
