[WATCH]- Rohit Sharma Irritated As Fans Mob Him Following Star Batter’s Return

Team India’s batting stalwart Rohit Sharma appeared visibly upset after being swarmed by fans upon his return to Mumbai from Jamnagar on Sunday, January 4. In a video shared on social media, Rohit was seen angrily gesturing and pointing at young fans as they attempted to shake hands with him.

The Nagpur-born cricketer had reportedly visited Jamnagar with his family to celebrate his daughter Samaira’s birthday. Although he initially shook hands with one young fan on his arrival, several others rushed towards him moments later, which seemed to annoy the star batter. Here’s the video capturing the incident:

The experienced batter is set to resume duties for Team India on January 11, when they take on New Zealand in the opening ODI of the three-match series in Vadodara.

Rohit Sharma Ends 2025 As World No.1 ODI Batter

Meanwhile, Rohit ended 2025 as the leading batter in the ICC men’s ODI rankings. After stepping away from T20Is in 2024 and Test cricket almost a year later, he is now focused solely on the 50-over format. With the 2027 World Cup firmly on the horizon, the aggressive opener has made a strong case to stay in contention for the marquee tournament.

Rohit Sharma amassed 650 runs from 14 matches in 2025 at an average of 50, including two centuries. He also turned out for Mumbai in two matches of the 2025–26 Vijay Hazare Trophy, scoring a rapid 155 against Sikkim before being dismissed for a first-ball duck against Uttarakhand.

The Nagpur-born batter is set to open alongside Shubman Gill in the first ODI against New Zealand, with Gill returning as captain. Shreyas Iyer has also been recalled to the squad, while Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah have been rested with an eye on the T20 World Cup 2026.
