With the England series done and dusted, the focus now shifts to the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The franchises have started training and recently Mumbai Indians bound India cricketers – Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, and Suryakumar Yadav joined the squad ahead of IPL 2021. The defending champions will begin their campaign against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the season-opener on April 9.

Incidentally, Hardik and Krunal were part of the 3rd and the final ODI between India and England while Suryakumar was the 12th man. Virat Kohli snatched the match from the jaws to defeat to win the series by seven runs in the final over and end their long season on a high. The season started with the tour of Australia where they scripted a historic Test series win before pulling off an all-format win against England.

Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, and Suryakumar Yadav traveled to Mumbai from Pune soon after the end of the third ODI, which took place on Sunday (March 28). Mumbai Indians took to Twitter to share the clip of the players landing in the city. Hardik, who scored 64 off 44 in the 3rd ODI, was seen wearing Team India’s practice t-shirt. As per the COVID-19 protocols, the players were wearing masks. Since they were in a bio-bubble in Pune, the trio might be allowed to skip the mandatory isolation period.

Rohit Sharma also joins Mumbai Indians camp

Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma has also joined the camp in Mumbai earlier today. The franchise took to their official Twitter account to share the news with the fans, who were curious to know about Rohit’s arrival date.

Meanwhile, the majority of MI’s players and coaches have landed in the camp and they are serving the 7-day isolation period. They will be allowed to hit the field once the 7-day period is over.

The players will fly to Chennai soon as the five-time IPL Champions are scheduled to play the first leg in the city. MI opener Quinton de Kock is still in South Africa and will fly for India after the 2nd ODI (vs Pakistan), which takes place on April 4. IPL 2021 kicks off on April 9.
