India star Rohit Sharma pulled off a fine catch at first slip during Mumbai’s Vijay Hazare Trophy match against Uttarakhand on Friday, December 26, at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. The packed crowd, which had turned up in large numbers to watch Rohit bat, was left deflated after he was dismissed for a golden duck.
But Rohit quickly made amends in the field. In the third over, he safely pouched an edge from Kamal Singh off Shardul Thakur’s bowling to give Mumbai their opening wicket. The moment sparked loud celebrations in the stands, with the crowd erupting as Rohit completed the sharp catch.

Earlier in the game, Rohit Sharma was dismissed for a golden duck in his second Vijay Hazare Trophy outing of the season. The Mumbai captain was out off the first ball he faced, as 25-year-old pacer Devendra Singh Bora had him caught while Rohit went for his trademark pull shot to a short delivery.
Fans Leave Stadium After Rohit Sharma’s Early Dismissal
Reports suggested that a sizeable number of spectators started exiting the stadium soon after Rohit’s dismissal. The buzz at the venue quickly died down once the catch was completed at deep square leg to send the star batter back to the pavilion. Some fans were also noticed appealing for a no-ball, hoping the umpires would give Rohit a lifeline so they could continue watching the celebrated batter play in their hometown.
After Rohit’s early dismissal, Mumbai responded with a dominant batting display and posted a formidable 331/7 in their 50 overs. With both openers, Rohit and Angkrish Raghuvanshi (11 off 20), falling cheaply, brothers Sarfaraz Khan (55) and Musheer Khan (55) steadied the innings by adding 107 runs for the third wicket off 90 balls.
Towards the end, Hardik Tamore’s unbeaten 93 off 82 deliveries, along with Shams Mulani’s brisk 48 off 35, lifted Mumbai past the 330-run mark. Devendra Singh Bora (3/74) was the most successful bowler for Uttarakhand, finishing with three wickets.
