Team India batting mainstay Rohit Sharma was spotted sharing a warm interaction with Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan at a star-studded event in Mumbai on Monday, January 5. A video circulating on social media captured the two engaged in a friendly exchange, with Shah Rukh, fondly referred to as ‘King Khan’, seen chatting animatedly with the Indian skipper.

Shah Rukh Khan has been closely linked with the Indian Premier League since its launch in 2008. As the co-owner of the highly successful Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), the veteran actor has long maintained strong rapport not only with Indian players but also with cricketers from across the globe. Several other prominent cricketers also graced the grand occasion, with the guest list featuring Yuzvendra Chahal, Suryakumar Yadav, Anil Kumble, Rahul Dravid, Jhulan Goswami, Harmanpreet Kaur, Jemimah Rodrigues, and Sachin Tendulkar. The event was equally star-studded on the film front, as Amitabh Bachchan, Vidya Balan, and Varun Dhawan were among the notable actors in attendance.

Rohit Sharma Claims No. 1 Spot In ICC ODI Batting Rankings In 2025

Meanwhile, the Nagpur-born star wrapped up 2025 as the top-ranked batter in the ICC ODI standings. After calling time on his T20I career in 2024 and stepping away from Test cricket nearly a year later, the former India captain is now focused solely on the 50-over format.

The right-hander had an outstanding ODI year, piling up 650 runs from 14 matches at an average of 50, highlighted by two centuries. The attacking opener recently turned out for Mumbai in the 2025–26 Vijay Hazare Trophy, where he blazed his way to a commanding 155 against Sikkim to set up a dominant win.

Although he was dismissed for a golden duck in the subsequent clash against Uttarakhand, Mumbai still cruised to a comfortable victory. Rohit will be keen to carry his rich vein of form into the forthcoming three-match ODI series against New Zealand, scheduled to begin on January 11 in Vadodara.

He came close to a hundred in the ODI series against South Africa, registering two half-centuries across three innings. With that in mind, Rohit will be eager to reach the three-figure mark when the Men in Blue lock horns with the Kiwis.
