This year, India’s star batsmen Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have not participated in any T20Is for the national squad. While Hardik Pandya is at the helm of the Indian team in the shortest format, both Kohli and Rohit have not been part of T20 matches. The same scenario applies to several other experienced players like Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Shami, and others.

During an interview, Rohit was questioned about his and Virat’s non-participation in T20Is. The response provided by the India captain baffled the reporter. Rohit clarified the absence of himself and other experienced players by noting that a comparable situation occurred last year as well. During that time, players chose not to participate in ODIs due to the impending T20 World Cup.

Rohit and Virat will make their next appearance in the upcoming Asia Cup, commencing later this month. The Asia Cup will provide the Indian team with valuable insights into the upcoming World Cup, a tournament that Rohit’s team is eager to clinch, considering their last victory in an ICC tournament was a decade ago.
