Team India’s batting great Rohit Sharma was among the many cricket icons who attended the 27th CEAT Cricket Rating Awards in Mumbai. After Shreyas Iyer collected the CEAT JioStar award, he returned to his seat and placed the trophy on the floor. Spotting this, the former Indian skipper, seated just behind Iyer, picked it up and respectfully set it on the table.
The 38-year-old, who is set to make his comeback for India during the upcoming Australia tour, also caught attention for his noticeably improved fitness. Dressed in a sharp suit, Rohit arrived at the event alongside his wife, Ritika Sajdeh, and enjoyed the ceremony in full spirits. You can watch the video here:

Iyer, a key contributor to India’s Champions Trophy 2025 triumph, has been named vice-captain of the ODI squad for the Australia tour. He will serve as deputy to the new skipper Shubman Gill, who has taken over the captaincy from Rohit Sharma with a long-term vision toward the 2027 World Cup.
“Australia is a place they truly enjoy playing in” – Ravi Shastri on Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli
Former India head coach Ravi Shastri feels that the strong internal competition in the squad will push Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to deliver their best in Australia. He added that the hunger to perform will be even greater now, as both stalwarts have stepped away from the other two formats. Speaking at the Kayo and Fox Sports’ Summer of Cricket launch on Monday, Shastri remarked (as quoted by Fox Sports):
“That’s why they’re here. They’re part of the mix but again, form is crucial. But there’s no substitute for experience when it comes to the big games, as we saw in the Champions Trophy. Come the big games, the big boys step up, so it’ll be interesting (to see what happens). (They) have to prove something, because they have the young guns nipping at their heels.”
“But they love playing in Australia. They have played some of the best white ball cricket and Test cricket in Australia. I think they’ll be out there. And they’ve not played for a while. They’ve retired from the other formats of the game, so that hunger will be there.”
