[WATCH] Ruturaj Gaikwad Pulls Off Stunning Direct Hit To Dismiss Rahul Tewatia For Duck in GT vs CSK Match

Chennai Super Kings captain Ruturaj Gaikwad produced an excellent direct hit to run out Gujarat Titans batter Rahul Tewatia for a golden duck during the IPL 2026 clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Thursday, May 21. The run-out came right after Anshul Kamboj dismissed Sai Sudharsan on the previous delivery.

Tewatia pushed a full-length ball towards mid-off and attempted a quick single, but Gaikwad quickly gathered the ball and fired a sharp throw at the non-striker’s end. Replays confirmed that the batter was short of his crease by a few inches, leaving the CSK skipper delighted with the effort.

Rahul Tewatia has scored only 98 runs in 13 matches this season at a strike rate of 132.43.

Fifties from Sai Sudharsan, Shubman Gill, and Jos Buttler Put GT in Command Against CSK

A dominant batting effort from the top order powered Gujarat Titans to 229/4 against Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2026 clash. Sai Sudharsan led the scoring with 84 off 53 balls, including seven fours and four sixes. With 638 runs this season, he went past skipper Shubman Gill to top the Orange Cap standings.

Gill himself contributed a fluent 64 from 37 deliveries, briefly moving ahead in the season’s run charts. The opening pair added 125 runs before being separated, laying a strong foundation for the innings. Later, Jos Buttler provided the finishing touch with an unbeaten 57 off 27 balls, striking five fours and four sixes.

For CSK, Mukesh Choudhary, Spencer Johnson, and Anshul Kamboj claimed one wicket each. The Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side now face a must-win situation to stay alive in the IPL 2026 playoff race, while GT will aim to secure a top-two finish for a second chance at reaching the final.

In both cases, net run rate is likely to play a decisive role. GT will also be aiming for a season double over CSK after winning their previous meeting at Chepauk by eight wickets. The five-time champions recently registered their first 180-plus successful chase since 2019 during a 204-run pursuit against Lucknow Super Giants.
