It was a regular Sunday until batting legend Sachin Tendulkar took the guard at the Junction Oval in Melbourne for the Bushfire Cricket Bash. As promised, Tendulkar came out to bat for one over against Australian cricketer Ellyse Perry to raise money for the Bushfire victim. The master blaster looked extremely poised like the first day of his international cricket or during his prime.
Tendulkar was initially the coach of Ricky Ponting XI but upon request from the organisers, he decided to bat for one over. Sachin Tendulkar’s explicit batting display has pulled crowds to the stadium for more than two decades and it was no different on Sunday. Fans gathered in Melbourne to watch the legends of the game showcase their skills once again.

The holder of most of the batting records, Tendulkar took guard for one over and started the proceedings hitting Ellyse Perry for a boundary from the first ball. The 46-year old played a square cut off the next delivery. Annabel Sutherland bowled the final two deliveries that went for a cover and straight drive respectively.

Meanwhile, Ponting XI defeated Gilchrist XI by one run to win the Bushfire Cricket Bash. It was great entertainment for the fans who joined in huge numbers to raise money for the charity. Brian Lara and Ponting were the highest scorers for their side while Courtney Walsh, Andrew Symonds, and Yuvraj Singh took one wicket each.
It was a close encounter as the Gilchrist-led almost took the game home in the chase of 105 runs from ten overs. Andrew Symonds and Shane Watson scored the bulk of the runs but Brett Lee still looked in great rhythm scalping two wickets to win the match.
