Senuran Muthusamy ended Sai Sudharsan’s resistance on Day 5 of the second Test between India and South Africa at Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati, on Wednesday, November 26. Sudharsan, the left-handed batter, was dismissed for 14 runs off 139 balls, as India lost their sixth wicket at 96.
The wicket fell in the 48th over of India’s second innings. Muthusamy bowled a tossed-up delivery outside off, and Sudharsan stepped forward to play it. However, he missed the line, and the ball took an outside edge to Aiden Markram, who claimed his eighth catch of the match, matching former India captain Ajinkya Rahane’s record.

Sai Sudharsan struggled to make an impact after returning to India’s playing XI for the second Test. The left-hander scored 15 and 13 in his two innings, raising doubts about his future in Test cricket. India’s next Test series is scheduled against Sri Lanka away in August 2026.
India edges closer to home Test series loss under Gambhir as Sai Sudharsan falters twice
Team India are close to losing their second home Test series under Gautam Gambhir, after suffering a 0-3 defeat to New Zealand last year. While chasing 549 against South Africa, India stood at 102/6 with Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar at the crease.
In their first innings, the Men in Blue were dismissed for 201 in reply to South Africa’s 489, giving the visitors a massive first-innings lead. South Africa then declared their second innings at 260/5. India lost the series opener by 30 runs, marking their first home Test defeat to the Proteas since 2010.
Notably, South Africa are aiming for their first Test series victory in India since the 1999/2000 season. Under Temba Bavuma’s captaincy, the team remains unbeaten in Test matches, winning 10 of his first 11 games with one draw. Earlier this year, he guided the Proteas to their maiden ICC World Test Championship title.
