[WATCH]- Shamar Joseph Claims His First Test Wicket At Home By Dismissing Aiden Markram With A Superb Delivery

On Thursday, August 15, West Indies fast bowler Shamar Joseph bamboozled South African opener Aiden Markram with an amazing delivery on Day 1 of the second Test match at Providence Stadium, Guyana. The first match ended in a draw, so this game will determine the series winner.

The dismissal happened on the third ball of the 11th over where Shamar Joseph produced a wobble seam ball that was bowled at good length but tried to be left by the South African batsman. Unfortunately for him, it was on target and crashed into the off-stump. He took off in jubilation after that.

Aiden Markram scored 14 runs off 30 balls; his wicket left South Africa at 20 for two after 10.3 overs. This was the first wicket of Shamar Joseph on his home field. However, he had already played five Test matches—three in England and two in Australia.

West Indies lead at lunch on Day 1

Temba Bavuma, the South African captain, won the toss and opted to bat first. However, it was not an ideal start for the visitors as they lost opener Tony de Zorzi in the fourth over itself. The left-handed batter went for only one as he was bowled out by Jayden Seales.

Shamar Joseph put South Africa in a spot of bother by taking two wickets in the 11th over of play. The pacer first dismissed Aiden Markram with a fantastic delivery on its third ball. Shortly afterwards, he trapped Bavuma, the opponents’ captain, in front of the stumps too soon for any runs to be recorded against him.

The fourth wicket partnership between Tristan Stubbs (26) and David Bedingham lasted just 72 balls for 37 runs before Jason Holder sent back Stubbs. During lunch at lunchtime break on Day 1 visitors are 64 for 4 after 26 overs with Bedingham and Kyle Verreynne still out there batting.
