Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) wicket-keeper Sheldon Jackson produced a lightning fast stumping on his debut against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Wankhede Stadium.
Umesh Yadav gave KKR a brilliant start dismissing last year’s Orange Cap winner Ruturaj Gaikwad in the first over. The veteran pacer continued the onslaught, this time getting the better of Devon Conway, who is on his IPL debut.
Since then, Robin Uthappa took control of the game hitting a couple of boundaries and sixes each to give a start to the defending champions. Just when it looked like CSK will get a move on from here, Sheldon Jackson produced a fine work behind the stumps to get the better of Uthappa.
The incident took place in the eighth over of the match. Uthappa got overbalanced trying to flick and Varun Chakaravarthy slipped it down leg for the keeper to do the rest. Sheldon Jackson produced a superb glove work. Made it look so simple despite being slightly blinded by the batter.

Meanwhile, CSK downfall continued as Ambati Rayudu also followed the suit, thanks to the presence of mind from KKR captain Shreyas Iyer.
Reeling at 57/4 at the halfway stage, KKR were at the driver’s seat. They capped it up with another wicket of Shivam Dube. Andre Russell bowled a tight bouncer forcing Dube to top-edge in an attempt to play a pool shot.
Kolkata will now want to wrap up Chennai’s innings as early as possible before chasing it down to make a winning start to IPL 2022.
