[WATCH]- Shikhar Dhawan Marks His 39th Birthday Alongside His Karnali Yaks Teammates

Former India opener Shikhar Dhawan celebrated his 39th birthday on Thursday, December 5, with his Karnali Yaks teammates. The seasoned cricketer is currently in Nepal, competing in the inaugural Nepal Cricket League.

Born on December 5 in Delhi to a Punjabi family, Dhawan was introduced to cricket at a young age. He honed his skills at the iconic Sonnet Club under the mentorship of Tarak Sinha. Known for his ability to perform under pressure, the left-handed batter retired from international and domestic cricket earlier this year.

Over a career spanning more than 12 years, Dhawan represented India in 34 Tests, 167 ODIs, and 68 T20Is, amassing 10,867 runs. One of the highlights of his career was the 2013 Champions Trophy, where his stellar performance of 363 runs at an average of 90.75 played a crucial role in India’s triumph.

Celebrating his first birthday since retiring from international cricket, Shikhar Dhawan marked the occasion with his Karnali teammates, enjoying cake-cutting and hearty laughs. He shared glimpses of the celebration through videos on Instagram, captioning them:

“Here’s to another year of unforgettable moments with the best people and fans by my side! Grateful, blessed, and beyond excited for what’s next. Let’s do this! ❤️😉🤗.”

Dhawan’s former teammate Yuvraj Singh left a comment on the post, extending his birthday wishes.

“Happy birthday jatt ji 🔥❤️,” Yuvraj wrote.

Shikhar Dhawan Shines in His Second Game in NCL 2024

After retiring from international and domestic cricket, Shikhar Dhawan is currently representing the Karnali Yaks in the Nepal Cricket League 2024. Dhawan had a modest start to his campaign, managing a run-a-ball 14 against the Janakpur Bolts.

The Yaks also struggled in the game, failing to defend 141 runs and losing by eight wickets. The veteran batter quickly redeemed himself in the next match, smashing an unbeaten 72 off 51 balls, featuring four boundaries and five sixes.

Despite his impressive performance, the Kathmandu Gurkhas successfully chased down 150 runs with three balls to spare, leaving Dhawan’s efforts in vain.
