Shreyas Iyer, the captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders, mimicked Sunil Narine’s bowling motion during practice at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, just a day before the crucial Indian Premier League (IPL) final versus Sunrisers Hyderabad. Both KKR and SRH advanced to the Sunday final after placing in the top two after the league round. Paradoxically, KKR overcame SRH in Qualifier 1 to earn a spot in the IPL 2024 championship game.

The previous time KKR played in an IPL final in Chennai, it was in a thrilling match against the Chennai Super Kings in 2012, solidifying Gambhir’s reputation as a wise men’s leader. In contrast, KKR has more all-around match-winners in its lineup when comparing man-to-man: Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, Rinku Singh, the two Iyers, Shreyas and Venkatesh, the two Ranas, Nitish and Harshit, and spinner Varun Chakravarthy.

The untested home stars of SRH, such as Abhishek Sharma and Nitish Reddy, have performed admirably, though, as have the less successful Indian internationals, like Bhuvneshwar Kumar, T Natarajan, and Jaydev Unadkat.

Shreyas Iyer mimics Sunil Narine’s bowling action in the nets:

In a brief time, Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Shreyas Iyer mimicked West Indian bowler Sunil Narine during practice at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium, only a day before the crucial Indian Premier League (IPL) final versus Sunrisers Hyderabad.

The song “golmal hae bhai sab golman hae” from the 1979 film Gol Maal plays in the background while Shreyas mimics Narine’s identical bowling motion in a video published by KKR. Shreyas is playing in his second final as captain for the unknown. He had previously captained the Delhi Capitals in the 2020 edition final.

In their first qualifier, which took place in the expansive Motera stadium, KKR defeated SRH with cunning bowling strategies. This time around, Iyer’s squad is the clear favourite in Chennai.

The 36-run victory that SRH achieved over the Rajasthan Royals on a challenging track will undoubtedly give them more confidence, but they also need to acknowledge that the Chepauk wicket will be ideal for Varun (20 wickets) and Narine (16 wickets), who have been playing very well this season.
