Star batter Shreyas Iyer was seen at Jaipur Airport as he prepares for his comeback in the Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT) 2025–26. Making his return after recovering from injury, Iyer is expected to feature in two matches for Mumbai in the domestic one-day tournament.
Mumbai are scheduled to face Himachal Pradesh in Jaipur on Tuesday, January 6, followed by a clash against Punjab at the same venue on Thursday, January 8.
“Iyer has informed us that he has got the clearance from the Centre of Excellence (COE) today, and he can take part in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy game. He will be added for the last two games now, which are scheduled to be played on January 6 and 8,” MCA secretary Dr Unmesh Khanvilkar was quoted as saying by The Indian Express.
Shreyas Iyer reached Jaipur ahead of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025–26 fixtures and was spotted at the airport on arrival. The star batter was seen carrying his kit bag and wearing a mask, before being escorted by officials as he made his way out of the airport.

He sustained a serious injury during the Australia tour in October 2025. While going for a diving catch in the third ODI, he landed awkwardly and was taken to a Sydney hospital, where he was diagnosed with a splenic laceration accompanied by internal bleeding.
Thankfully, he has since made a full recovery and completed his rehabilitation at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru. The medical team has now cleared him to take part in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025–26 fixtures.
Shreyas Iyer Returns To India’s ODI Squad For New Zealand Tour
India are scheduled to host New Zealand for a three-match ODI series at home, starting Sunday, January 11. Shreyas Iyer, who was sidelined after the Australia tour due to injury, is set to make his return for the Men in Blue after being included in the squad for the New Zealand ODIs.
In addition, Iyer has been appointed vice-captain, although his involvement in the series remains contingent on full fitness clearance. As a result, his appearances in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025–26 will be vital, with his fitness set to be closely assessed to determine his readiness for international action.
If all goes well for the star batter, he is expected to fly straight to Vadodara for the first ODI after completing his VHT 2025–26 commitments with Mumbai.
