Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer had to borrow a cameraman’s shoes before the post-match presentation following his side’s dominant 54-run victory over Lucknow Super Giants on Sunday, April 19. PBKS successfully defended a massive 255-run total at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, continuing their unbeaten run in Indian Premier League 2026.

After the game, Iyer was initially seen on the field wearing slippers. However, regulations set by the Board of Control for Cricket in India do not allow players to attend post-match presentations in casual footwear or sleeveless jerseys, with violations potentially resulting in fines.

A video later went viral on social media showing Iyer requesting a cameraman’s shoes to comply with the dress code rules. Watch the video here:

The Shreyas Iyer-led Punjab Kings are currently sitting at the top of the Indian Premier League 2026 standings. They have secured five wins from six matches so far, while their game against Kolkata Knight Riders was abandoned due to rain. Iyer, however, had a quiet outing against Lucknow Super Giants, scoring just five runs off six deliveries.

Explosive innings from Priyansh Arya and Cooper Connolly powered PBKS to the highest total of the season, as they posted 254/7 in their 20 overs. In reply, LSG finished at 200/5 after their full quota of overs.

Shreyas Iyer lauds Arya–Connolly partnership as ‘jaw-dropping’

Punjab Kings had a shaky start after being asked to bat first, with the in-form Prabhsimran Singh dismissed for a golden duck in the opening over. However, Priyansh Arya and Cooper Connolly steadied the innings with a remarkable 182-run partnership for the second wicket, coming off just 82 balls.

Commending their effort, Shreyas Iyer said during the post-match presentation (via Cricbuzz):

“It was exceptional, first of all. Some of the shots I saw were jaw-dropping, honestly speaking. Hitting fast bowlers off the back foot straight, and spinners as well – it takes a lot of courage and composure at the same time, because things can slip at any moment. But the way they built that partnership, especially in the middle overs, it was sensational.”
