The Indian team arrived at Kangra Airport on Thursday ahead of the first ODI against Afghanistan, with a huge crowd of fans gathering to welcome the players. Supporters were especially excited to spot stars like Rohit Sharma, Shreyas Iyer, Shubman Gill and KL Rahul. The opening ODI will be played at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala.
Before travelling, the Indian players trained in Mohali, where Rohit had recently rejoined the squad after clearing his fitness test at the Centre of Excellence. When the players arrived in Dharamsala, Team India’s new travel kit also grabbed attention.

For Prince Yadav, Harsh Dubey and Gurnoor Brar, this marks their first ODI series with the national side. Prince was seen walking behind Rohit while leaving the airport. Fans, however, will miss Virat Kohli, who was initially named in the squad but had to withdraw due to injury. Hardik Pandya is also unavailable because of an injury.

Shubman Gill Overtakes Yashasvi Jaiswal to Become India’s Top-Ranked Test Batter
Shubman Gill has become the highest-ranked Indian batter in the latest ICC Test rankings. The India captain climbed two places to eighth after scoring a century in the one-off Test against Afghanistan, a match India won by an innings and 300 runs. Gill now sits one place ahead of fellow Indian batter Yashasvi Jaiswal.
Harry Brook reclaimed the No. 1 spot in the ICC Test batting rankings, overtaking Joe Root, who slipped to third, while Travis Head moved to second. Shubman Gill entered the top eight after his century against Afghanistan, while Ben Duckett, Jamie Smith and Glenn Phillips also made gains in the rankings.
In the bowling rankings, Gus Atkinson moved up seven places to break into the top 10 at No. 10 among Test bowlers and also climbed to sixth in the all-rounders’ list. Kyle Jamieson and Ollie Robinson re-entered the rankings at 22nd and 23rd respectively, while New Zealand pacer Nathan Smith surged 16 spots to 43rd.
In the ODI rankings, Abrar Ahmed climbed to second among bowlers after a six-wicket series against Australia, while Shaheen Afridi moved up to ninth. Nathan Ellis and Nahid Rana also made big gains, while batters Kusal Mendis, Janith Liyanage and Tanzid Hasan improved their rankings.
