[WATCH]- Shubman Gill’s Spectacular One-Handed Grab Sends Allah Ghazanfar Packing in 1st ODI

India captain Shubman Gill showcased his excellent fielding skills during the first ODI against Afghanistan in Dharamsala on June 13. In the rain-shortened 25-over match, Afghanistan were in a strong position at 176/6 after 21 overs.

With the visitors looking to score quickly, debutant Harsh Dubey was brought on to bowl the 22nd over. After being hit for a six on the first ball, the left-arm spinner bounced back immediately by dismissing the well-set Azmatullah Omarzai on the next delivery.

Two balls later, Dubey induced an edge from Allah Ghazanfar. The ball appeared to be heading past first slip, but Gill reacted brilliantly, diving to his left and grabbing it with one hand before safely completing a stunning catch.

Gill’s brilliant catch gave Harsh Dubey his second wicket of the over and third wicket of the match. The left-arm spinner ended with figures of 3/47 from his five overs. Gill’s stunning effort left the commentators amazed, while his teammates rushed to congratulate him for the spectacular catch.

Shubman Gill’s stunning catch left Afghanistan at 8 wickets down with more than three overs still left in their innings. As a result, they couldn’t finish strongly and managed to add only 12 more runs before being bowled out for 194 in 24.5 overs.

Earlier, after winning the toss and choosing to field, India had Afghanistan in trouble at 26/3 inside five overs. However, opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz turned the innings around with a sensational 102 off just 51 balls, smashing eight fours and eight sixes.

At one stage, Afghanistan were cruising at 142/3 in the 16th over, but Gurbaz’s dismissal triggered a collapse that saw them lose wickets regularly. For India, debutants Gurnoor Brar and Harsh Dubey starred with the ball, claiming three wickets each.

Arshdeep Singh and Nitish Kumar Reddy chipped in with two wickets apiece to restrict Afghanistan to 194. Chasing a target of 195 to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series, India got off to a solid start, reaching 19 without loss after two overs.
