Team India captain Shubman Gill shared a light-hearted moment with Ravindra Jadeja on Day 1 of the second Test against England at Edgbaston. After sneaking a quick single, Gill humorously shouted “Aankhon hee aankhon mein” to Jadeja, implying they didn’t need words and had coordinated the run with just eye contact. The comment left the all-rounder laughing.
The exchange took place when England spinner Shoaib Bashir was in action. Gill softly pushed the ball to the on-side and the pair instantly set off for a single. Once safely at the other end, Gill’s witty remark highlighted their sharp understanding and added a touch of humour to the moment. You can watch the video here:

Gill-Jadeja Partnership Pushes India Beyond 300, Puts Visitors in Command At Edgbaston
Shubman Gill and Ravindra Jadeja displayed remarkable composure to steady India’s innings after a shaky phase on Day 1 of the second Test at Edgbaston. Jadeja partnered with Gill after India found themselves in trouble at 211/5, following the dismissal of Nitish Kumar Reddy for just 1.
The seam-bowling all-rounder misjudged a delivery from Chris Woakes while attempting to leave it, resulting in his downfall. With India’s lower order exposed and struggling in the previous Test at Leeds, England sensed an opportunity to seize control.
However, Gill and Jadeja defied those hopes with a resilient, unbeaten 99-run partnership that took India to 310/5 at stumps after 85 overs, frustrating the English bowlers with their composed strokeplay. Gill stood firm on 101*, while Jadeja provided steady support with 41* at the close of play.
Earlier in the innings, Yashasvi Jaiswal had laid the foundation with an attacking 87. Heading into Day 2, the Indian team will aim to push the total beyond 400 and keep the English bowlers working hard in the field.
