Team India has taken a step closer to winning the ongoing Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground after Jasprit Bumrah got the better of Steve Smith round the legs. Meanwhile, Smith’s poor run with the bat continues as he has managed only 10 runs from the four innings so far in the series.
The visitors came out with a purpose in the second essay and the bowlers responded well to the challenge. Jasprit Bumrah and Umesh Yadav started well in the second innings as India look to bowl out the Aussies for a cheap total to level terms in the series. Bumrah was on the money from the first delivery hitting Matthew Wade’s pads before bowling a toe-crushing yorker to Joe Burns. The Aussie opener got away thanks to the umpire’s call.
However, Burns poor form with the bat continues as the peach of a delivery from Umesh Yadav ended his stay in the middle. Joe Burns reviewed the decision but the HotSpot showed a mark and it was a simple catch for Rishabh Pant. Just when Umesh started to look in rhythm he suffered a niggle in his calf.
Steve Smith’s lean run with the bat continues
Matthew Wade and Marnus Labuschagne looked set to bail Australia but a brilliant delivery from Ravichandran Ashwin got the better of Labuschagne as the stroke of tea. Indian bowlers continued their dominations as Steve Smith looked in all sorts of trouble against Ashwin before Jasprit Bumrah got the better of him. A lot has been talked about his stance and technique and finally, it has cost him his wicket.

It’s a well laid out strategy as Bumrah attempted to bowl quick on leg-stump to beat Steve Smith for pace while playing for the glance. Jasprit Bumrah’s gotten him to do just that. And is deadly accurate to get the ball to kiss the leg-bail after deflecting off the thigh. Bumrah didn’t know the bail fell and was pondering an LBW review until Ajinkya Rahane showed him. Smith also didn’t know the bail fell and had to take a long walk back once he understood that Jasprit Bumrah has got the better of him.
