[WATCH]- Steve Smith Stunned After Getting Out By Jasprit Bumrah In BGT 2024-25 2nd Test

Jasprit Bumrah once again came to India’s rescue, striking twice in the first session of Day 2 at the Adelaide Oval on Saturday, December 7. He removed Nathan McSweeney and the dangerous Steve Smith, bringing India back into the game.

On Day 1, Bumrah claimed the lone Australian wicket to fall in the day-night Test. McSweeney and Marnus Labuschagne had built a strong partnership, giving the hosts a solid platform. However, a superb delivery with slight deviation ended McSweeney’s stay at the crease.

Bumrah maintained the pressure by dismissing Smith, who has struggled with form lately. A ball angling down the leg side caught Smith shuffling across to flick it, but he edged it faintly. Rishabh Pant, diving to his left, took an excellent catch to seal the dismissal.

Steve Smith’s dismissal left Australia at 103/3, chasing India’s first-innings total of 180. They now stand at 116/3, trailing by 64 runs, with Marnus Labuschagne and Travis Head at the crease.

Steve Smith’s Performance in the First BGT 2024-25 Test

Steve Smith had a disappointing start to the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 during the first Test in Perth. He managed scores of 0 and 17 in his two innings as Australia suffered a crushing 295-run defeat, falling 0-1 behind in the five-match series.

In the first innings of the Perth Test, Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Steve Smith, while Mohammed Siraj accounted for his wicket in the second innings. Across three innings in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 so far, the right-handed batter has managed to score just 19 runs in total.

With this loss, Australia went 0-1 down in the five-match series, and questions arose over the form of key players like Smith. The team would undoubtedly rely on him to step up in the upcoming matches to turn the series around.
