Suryakumar Yadav has not been included in West Zone’s 15-member squad for the upcoming Duleep Trophy, set to begin in Bengaluru on August 28. According to a Cricbuzz report, selectors had reached out to the right-hander to confirm his availability for the tournament.

However, the Mumbai batter reportedly informed them that he is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence. The squad will be captained by his Mumbai teammate Shardul Thakur and features notable players like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sarfaraz Khan, and Shreyas Iyer.

Suryakumar Yadav Targets Asia Cup 2025 Return In September

India’s upcoming campaign will be the Asia Cup, scheduled to take place in the UAE in September 2025. As per the Cricbuzz report, Suryakumar Yadav is optimistic about regaining full fitness in time to participate in the continental tournament, which is set to run from September 9 to 28. If cleared medically, he is likely to lead the Indian side in the competition.

The Men in Blue clinched the Asia Cup title in 2023, when the tournament was held in the 50-over format across Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Under Rohit Sharma’s leadership, India thrashed Sri Lanka by 10 wickets in the final, thanks to a stunning 6/21 spell by Mohammed Siraj that skittled the hosts for just 50 runs.

Sri Lanka were the previous champions in the T20 format, having won the title in 2022.
