Mumbai Indians’ (MI) star batter, Suryakumar Yadav, was honored with a special jersey featuring the No.100 on the back as he reached the milestone of 100 IPL matches for the franchise. Ahead of the crucial clash against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Ekana International Stadium on Friday (April 4), he was seen proudly posing with the jersey.

Having first joined Mumbai Indians in 2011, the stylish right-hander has amassed 3,137 runs at an impressive average of 35.65, including two centuries and a striking strike rate of 148.60. He has played a key role in all five of MI’s title wins in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020.

His contributions were particularly crucial in the 2020 season in the UAE, where he scored 480 runs in 16 matches at an average of 40, including four half-centuries, helping MI secure the title. His stellar IPL performances paved the way for his entry into the Indian national team, and he now leads the side in T20Is.

Suryakumar Yadav led Mumbai Indians in their opening match of IPL 2025

Suryakumar Yadav also led the five-time champions in their opening clash against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium. The right-hander contributed 29 runs as Mumbai Indians posted a total of 155, but they fell short, losing by four wickets in a hard-fought contest.

Regarding their match against the Super Giants, captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and opted to field first, considering the impact of dew. A major update from the MI camp was the absence of opener Rohit Sharma due to a knee injury. The team made one change to their XI, bringing in Akash Deep in place of Manimaran Siddharth.

Meanwhile, the Super Giants have made a strong start, driven by a blazing half-century from Mitchell Marsh.
