Team India captain Suryakumar Yadav jokingly likened himself to Rohit Sharma during the toss before the Asia Cup 2025 clash against Oman at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. The 35-year-old momentarily forgot one of the changes in the playing XI and quipped, “I have become like Rohit.”
Rohit, who retired from T20Is after leading India to World Cup glory in the West Indies last year, is known for often forgetting details about the team’s playing XI. While Suryakumar did remember the first change — bringing in Harshit Rana — he struggled to recall the second. It was later revealed that Arshdeep Singh was the other inclusion.
When asked about the team combination, Suryakumar said in the video below:
“We have two changes. Harshit Rana comes in. Also, there’s one more change. Harshit comes in, there’s one more guy. Oh my god! I have become like Rohit.”

Oman captain Jatinder Singh experienced the same slip-up at the toss just a few moments later.
Suryakumar Yadav-Led India Dominate UAE And Pakistan In Opening Group Matches
The Men in Blue are currently seen as the team to beat in the ongoing multi-nation tournament in the UAE. The defending champions began with a dominant nine-wicket win over the UAE at the Dubai International Stadium, followed by a comprehensive seven-wicket victory against arch-rivals Pakistan at the same venue on Sunday.
These back-to-back wins secured their place in the Super 4 stage with ease. For their match against Oman, India opted to rest key players Jasprit Bumrah and top-ranked T20 spinner Varun Chakravarthy, bringing in Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana instead.
At the toss, skipper Suryakumar Yadav emphasized the importance of giving their batters more time in the middle after two straightforward wins. The team is looking to get some solid batting practice ahead of their Super 4 clash with Pakistan in Dubai on Sunday, September 21.
Joining India and Pakistan in the Super 4 stage are Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, who will kick off the round on Saturday, September 20.
