India’s T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav was seen at the Mumbai Airport on Thursday, September 4, ahead of his departure for the 2025 Asia Cup starting on September 9. The 34-year-old will be leading Team India in the tournament, where they have been placed in Group A with Pakistan, Oman, and hosts United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Before boarding his flight, Suryakumar shared a warm hug with his wife, Devisha Shetty. The stylish Mumbai batter opted for a casual look, sporting a brown short-sleeved button-down shirt with cream trousers. You can watch the video here:

For the upcoming 2025 Asia Cup, Test skipper Shubman Gill has been appointed as Suryakumar Yadav’s deputy. Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah has earned a recall to the T20I squad, marking his first appearance since the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Suryakumar Yadav Becomes India’s Third-Highest Run-Scorer In T20Is

Suryakumar Yadav made his T20I debut for India in March 2021 and quickly cemented his place in the team. Since then, he has featured in 83 matches, amassing 2,598 runs at an impressive average of 38.20 and a blistering strike rate of 167.07. His tally includes 21 half-centuries and four centuries, with his highest score of 117 coming against England at Trent Bridge in 2022.

Currently, he stands as India’s third-highest run-scorer in T20Is, trailing only Rohit Sharma (4,231) and Virat Kohli (4,188). As skipper, he has led the side in 22 matches, registering 18 wins and only four defeats.

In terms of Asia Cup T20 performances, Suryakumar represented India in the 2022 edition, where he scored 139 runs across five innings at an average of 34.75 and a strike rate of 163.52. His standout knock came against Hong Kong, smashing an unbeaten 68 off just 26 deliveries, laced with six fours and six sixes.
