Indian cricketers were seen exchanging pleasantries with Pakistan fast bowler Shaheen Afridi, who was ruled out of the upcoming Asia Cup 2022 with an injury. Shaheen has a ligament injury in the right knee and will miss the entire tournament. However, the youngster has traveled with the squad as the management is keen to keep a close watch on his recovery.

India-Pakistan cricket stories have always been one brimmed with emotions to the top. The Indian players approached Shaheen on the sidelines of the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, asking him about the injury and his recovery. Moments that were shared on social media by PCB.

Yuzvendra Chahal is seen approaching the Pakistan star player first and the two share a warm hug, following which Shaheen Afridi tells the India spinner that he picked up the injury during the recent Test series in Sri Lanka.

Virat Kohli, who can be seen standing in the background as the two conversate then approaches the pacer to enquire about his injury. Afterwards, Shaheen is seen sharing a light moment with the India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma has played down the pressure of playing against arch-rivals Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2022 opener. India and Pakistan lock horns with each other in their campaign opener on Sunday, August 28, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Rohit, speaking to the tournament’s broadcaster Star Sports, has downplayed the hype around the contest. He said, ““Everyone watches the game and it’s a high-pressure game without a doubt, but within the group we want to create a normal atmosphere. We don’t want to hype this game too much.

“It’s important to tell the players who haven’t played against Pakistan or played them just one or two times that it’s just another opposition.”
