Team India arrived in Colombo late on Friday, February 13, where they were given a grand welcome at the airport ahead of their much-awaited T20 World Cup 2026 clash against Pakistan. The squad travelled from Delhi after securing a dominant 93-run victory over Namibia at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Thursday, February 12.
Head coach Gautam Gambhir was the first to exit the airport, with the players following behind as drummers added to the festive atmosphere near the entrance. Abhishek Sharma, who is recovering from a stomach infection and remains doubtful for the upcoming match, was seen walking alongside Jasprit Bumrah.
Soon after, the players boarded the team bus and left the venue. They were greeted with another warm reception upon reaching their hotel. You can watch the video here (via RevSportz):

Team India have been on the move continuously since the New Zealand series earlier this year. They played T20Is across five different venues at home before assembling in Mumbai for their tournament opener against the USA.
In contrast, Pakistan played a home series against Australia ahead of the T20 World Cup and are scheduled to play all their matches of the tournament in Sri Lanka.
Team India Boast Strong Record Against Pakistan in T20 World Cups
From their famous bowl-out victory in the 2007 T20 World Cup to the nail-biting encounter in New York in the previous edition, India have largely dominated Pakistan in the tournament. The Men in Blue have won seven of the eight meetings between the two sides, including triumphing in the final of the inaugural edition in South Africa.
The last time India and Pakistan faced each other in a T20 World Cup match in Sri Lanka was in 2012, when India secured a comfortable eight-wicket victory, powered by Virat Kohli’s unbeaten 78 off 61 balls. Heading into their crucial clash in the 2026 edition, both teams remain unbeaten in the tournament so far.
India currently sit at the top of their group after registering wins over the USA and Namibia, leading the standings on the basis of net run-rate.
