Team India is gearing up for their opening clash of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. They will take on arch-rivals Pakistan on Sunday, October 23 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Ahead of the mega-clash, the Rohit Sharma-led team was greeted with a warm welcome by the Bharat Army in Melbourne.

Team India reached Melbourne on Wednesday, October 19 in the evening, after their second warm-up got washed out due to rain in Brisbane. As the players landed, the Bharat Army gave them a rousing welcome. The fans also clicked pictures with the Indian players, while skipper Rohit Sharma cut a cake with them.

Sharing a video from Team India’s welcome, the Bharat Army wrote,

It’s been a while since we have won the World Cup: Rohit Sharma

The 2022 T20 World Cup will be Indian skipper Rohit Sharma’s first assignment as the leader at a world event Speaking on the occasion, Rohit Sharma expressed that India needs to do a lot of things right to win the T20 World Cup. He said to bcci.tv.,

“It’s been a while since we have won the World Cup. Obviously, the motive and the whole thought process is to win the World Cup.  But we know that we need to do a lot of things right to get there, so one step at a time for us.”

“We can’t think too far ahead. You really cannot think about semis and finals from now itself. You just need to focus on each team that you are going to come against and try to do your best and prepare well against each team and make sure we move in the right direction,” added Rohit Sharma.
