India’s wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan was seen spending time with fans after Friday’s practice session on February 20, as the team prepared for their T20 World Cup 2026 match against South Africa. The defending champions will begin their Super 8 campaign at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Kishan has been India’s top run-scorer in the tournament so far and has looked in great touch. He scored back-to-back fifties against Namibia and Pakistan during the group stage. In the recent match against the Netherlands, he was unlucky to get out to off-spinner Aryan Dutt.
The aggressive opener will be one of India’s main players going into the important Super 8 stage, where they are grouped with unbeaten teams South Africa, West Indies, and Zimbabwe.
After the evening practice session, Kishan signed autographs and happily took selfies with fans before heading back to the dressing room. Here’s a look at his interaction with the supporters :

Ishan Kishan has done well against South Africa in T20 internationals. In five matches, he has scored 206 runs at an average of 41.20 and a strong strike rate of 150.36, including two half-centuries.
India Aims to Keep Winning Streak Alive in T20 World Cup 2026
Team India topped Group A with four straight wins, including a big victory over arch-rivals Pakistan in Colombo. But Suryakumar Yadav and the rest of the squad will face a tougher test against the tournament’s top-ranked teams.
Ishan Kishan, one of India’s in-form batters in a struggling batting line-up, could play a key role, especially against South Africa’s new-ball bowlers in the powerplay. His performance early in the innings could heavily influence the match. However, Kishan hasn’t had much success at the Narendra Modi Stadium in the past.
Apart from a memorable fifty on his T20I debut at the venue, he has scored just 79 runs in four T20I innings, averaging 19.75. In four IPL matches at the same stadium, he has only managed 26 runs at an average of 8.67.
