Umesh Yadav has provided Team India with a perfect start in the second innings of the ongoing Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Joe Burns’ poor run with the bat continues as he once again departs cheaply after a duck in the first essay.
After getting bowled out for 326, Jasprit Bumrah and Umesh Yadav started exactly where they left in the first innings. Bumrah posed all sort of questions from the first delivery hitting Matthew Wade on his legs before almost removing Burns with a toe-crushing yorker. The right-handed opener also survived a run-out chance as he looked completely out of the place before Umesh Yadav removed him with a ripper.
Umesh Yadav sends Joe Burns packing
The ball came with the natural angle and then wickedly swung away late. Joe Burns was completely opened up as he played down the wrong line. The ball flicked the outside edge and then brushed his back trouser and Rishabh Pant has a simple catch to complete the dismissal. If he hadn’t nicked it, could have been a close LBW call.

It was an absolute peach of a delivery from Umesh Yadav and Burns has been caught behind, but at the last moment, he decides to review. He took a long time, had a big chat with his partner and signalled for it. HotSpot detected a mark, so the onfield call stayed and Burns’s misery is over. He was out on all fours against Bumrah, but this is an absolute seed from Umesh to send him packing.

Earlier in the day, Australian bowlers showed intent especially Mitchell Starc to pick India’s remaining five wickets in the morning session. India managed only 32 runs in the opening session and once Ajinkya Rahane and Ravindra Jadeja were back in the hut, it was only time Australia would clean up the tail.
