When both cricket and tennis matches take place at the same time, viewers are often conflicted between what to watch. However, a recent viral video demonstrates that you can play actually play both the sports at the same time.
In the video, four players with cricket bats in their hand can be seen competing in a rally, with lawn tennis balls instead of the red cricket ball. The game resembled a tennis match, minus the rackets.

While it may appear like a leisure activity, it was actually part of a pre-game preparation session. Toby Bailey, National Performance Coach and National Selector for Cricket Scotland, was the one who first posted the video on his twitter account.
He mentioned that the players in the video are members of the Scotland A team and players of Edinburgh Napier University academy. The training game was dubbed “Batminton” by Bailey.
The rules of #Batminton as stated by @CricketScotland @EdinburghNapier Performance Academy & A Team players! The game is played on a badminton 🏸 court with cricket bats 🏏. The match is best of 5 games in a tennis 🎾 game format for more pressure points. #batminton

Bailey highlighted how important this drill is for players’ foot mobility and batting against spin bowling. Batters can utilise the practise to maintain their frame and control the face of their bat in response to the pace and swing/spin of the ball. The activity does not take up a lot of time, so it’s efficient as well.
#batminton the game usually takes 10-15 mins depending on how good the players are. Great warm up and brilliant for foot movement, bat face control and accessing the ball to play against spin. #batminton

Review of racism in Scottish cricket to begin from next month
An independent inquiry of racism in Scottish cricket will begin next month. This announcement comes following the allegations made by former Scotland players Majid Haq and Qasim Sheikh that the regulatory body handling the sport in the nation was “institutionally racist”
Haq was expelled out from the ICC 2015 World Cup after writing a tweet stating he had been benched for a match against Sri Lanka due to racial reasons. “A lot of people have asked me if I think Cricket Scotland are institutionally racist – I think they are. An investigation would show that they are.”, Haq said.
Something I believed back in 2015 & with what has been happening in the World since then it’s reaffirmed by belief even more. It’s a clear fact that being in the minority is much tougher. #institutionalracism https://t.co/JuN83qEFna
