The debate regarding Virat Kohli’s snub as the ODI skipper of the Indian side is making the rounds all across the media. He was sacked in the most unceremonious of conditions leaving the Indian cricket fans in absolute disbelief. The BCCI named Rohit Sharma as the next ODI skipper while announcing the Indian Test squad for the series against South Africa.
Virat Kohli won 65 out of the 95 games as India skipper maintaining a win percentage of over 70 percent. Rohit also highlighted the importance of Kohli in the team saying that he will always be a part of the leadership group.
Meanwhile, a video of MS Dhoni speaking about Virat Kohli’s captaincy is going viral across social media platforms. In 2018, Dhoni and other players of IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK) had a fun chat session with kids during which he spoke about Kohli’s leadership abilities.
Dhoni was heard saying that Kohli is “very good” as a skipper while speaking about the ideal traits that a captain should have.

After Rohit was appointed the next ODI skipper, Ganguly said that the call was made by the selectors and not by him alone.
“It`s a call that the BCCI and the selectors took together. Actually, the BCCI had requested Virat to not step down as the T20I skipper but obviously, he did not agree. And the selectors then did not feel it right to have two different captains for two white-ball formats. So it was decided that Virat will continue as Test captain and Rohit will take over as the white-ball captain. I as President personally spoke to Virat Kohli and the chairman of selectors has also spoken to him,” Ganguly told ANI.
