[WATCH]- Virat Kohli Blushes While Watching Old Clip Of Himself Commenting On Chris Gayle

Royal Challengers Bengaluru star Virat Kohli hilariously poked fun at himself on Wednesday after watching an old interview from IPL 2011. The 36-year-old couldn’t contain his laughter as he viewed a clip of his younger self giving a Player of the Match acceptance speech following RCB’s win over Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) 14 years ago.

The match, remembered more for Brendon McCullum’s explosive 158 in the IPL opener, also marked Kohli’s first Player of the Match award, four years after his debut. Playing in front of his home crowd in Delhi, the then 22-year-old scored a fluent 56 off 38 balls, hitting eight fours and two sixes, helping RCB chase down 162 with three balls to spare.

In the post-match interview, a young Kohli spoke about taking on the aggressor’s role during an 82-run second-wicket partnership with opener Chris Gayle. He stated:

“To be honest, I did not plan to bat like that. But when I started to hit the ball well, I took charge from Chris. That was the plan in the middle so that he could play himself in, and I could go for my shots because I was hitting it well.”

Virat Kohli Reacts to Footage of His First IPL Player of the Match Award on ’18 Calling 18′

During a candid chat on ’18 Calling 18′ on JioHotstar, Virat Kohli was shown the exact clip of him receiving his first Player of the Match award in the IPL.

“I don’t even know what I said. You guys brought it here from somewhere,” he reacted.

Kohli attentively watched the video, and the moment his younger self mentioned Gayle, he burst into laughter. Despite feeling a bit embarrassed by his 2011 post-match remarks, he playfully made fun of himself.

“Chris could play himself in? Waah! Ghalat fehmi dekh lo (Look at the misunderstanding)! Since the social media boom, fans have started analysing players’ quotes, which has become way too twisted,” he added.

Kohli is actively participating in the IPL 2025 season, continuing his long-standing stint with RCB. So far, he has accumulated 164 runs from four innings, including two half-centuries, with a strike rate of 143.86.
