Virat Kohli was spotted dancing on the field after Mohammad Shami dismissed Cooper Connolly in the third over of the match. India and Australia clashed at the Dubai International Stadium on Tuesday, March 4, in the first semi-final of the 2025 Champions Trophy.

Australia won the toss and elected to bat first, sending India into the field. Shami, who had earlier given Travis Head a lifeline by dropping his catch on the first delivery of the match, made amends by dismissing the other opener in his second over.

Connolly struggled to find his footing and failed to time his shots effectively. His struggles came to an end when he edged a delivery straight into KL Rahul’s gloves. The on-field umpire was unconvinced and did not give it out, but Rohit Sharma, confident in the appeal, opted for a review.

The DRS confirmed a faint edge before KL Rahul completed the catch, leading the umpire to overturn his decision and declare Connolly out. Following the breakthrough, Kohli celebrated the dismissal with a few dance moves on the field.

Virat Kohli needs 40 more runs to become India’s highest run-scorer in Champions Trophy history

Former India captain Virat Kohli is on the brink of adding another achievement to his illustrious career. He needs 40 runs against Australia to surpass Shikhar Dhawan and become India’s leading run-scorer in Champions Trophy history.

Kohli has scored 662 runs in 16 Champions Trophy matches so far, including five half-centuries and a century, with his ton coming recently against Pakistan. Currently, Shikhar Dhawan holds the top spot with 701 runs in the tournament. He featured in two editions, playing 10 matches and scoring three centuries along with three fifties.
