The second Test match played in Kanpur’s Green Park Stadium between India and Bangladesh ended with a heartfelt gesture by the former Indian Captain Virat Kohli who presented his bat to Shakib Al Hasan. The circumstance turned out to be particularly sad since it was apparent that it was Shakib’s (legendary all-rounder and former captain) last Test match.

At the presentation ceremony, Kohli walked up to Shakib and presented him the bat in a show of respect and appreciation. The emotional episode which took place and was filmed for editing and later posting on social media, went viral within minutes.

Kohli’s kind gesture highlights the respect and friendship that the best players in cricket have for one another. Kohli’s gift, which honors Shakib’s remarkable career and services to the game, is proof of the Bengal Tigers’ enduring legacy. Widespread praise for the deed has been received, underscoring the spirit of sportsmanship that knows no country or rival boundaries.

Virat Kohli gifts a bat to Shakib Al Hasan:

After the second Test match between India and Bangladesh at Green Park, Kanpur, the Indian cricket team’s star batsman Virat Kohli presented his bat to Shakib Al Hasan.

Due to the growing political instability in Bangladesh, Shakib mentioned ahead of the second Test that the Test series against South Africa would be his last chance to feature in red-ball cricket. However, there is a possibility that he might not return to the country to participate in the series at this point.

This suggests that the cricket player may have already completed his final Test match. When questioned whether the Indian team or the BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla had anything special planned for Shakib on Day 5 of the Test following Day 4, the seasoned administrator replied that they had not received any formal word from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).

In the meantime, a moment that went viral on social media saw Kohli give the old cricket player a bat following the match. In 71 Test matches, Shakib has scored 4609 runs at an average of 37.77 while playing for Bangladesh. Additionally, in the longest format, he has 246 wickets.
