Former India skipper Virat Kohli was spotted in New Delhi on Tuesday morning, just a day before he is set to fly to Australia with the white-ball squad for the three-match ODI series beginning on October 19. Kohli was seen exiting the airport and getting into a car, sporting a black shirt paired with white trousers. With earphones on and a laid-back look, he appeared calm and stylish after returning from London.
Wearing spectacles and white sneakers, Kohli walked through the airport under heavy security and is set to depart Wednesday morning with the first batch of Indian players, including Rohit Sharma. Head coach Gautam Gambhir and skipper Shubman Gill are expected to travel later on Wednesday evening, joining the players who were part of the recently concluded West Indies Test series on October 14.
India, under Shubman Gill’s leadership, sealed a 2-0 series sweep over the West Indies at home on Tuesday. Speaking after the win in the second Test, head coach Gambhir shared his thoughts on the returns of Kohli and Rohit, giving a realistic perspective on their prospects for the 2027 World Cup.
“They are quality players, they are coming back, their experience will be handy. 2027 World Cup is 2.5 years away. It’s important to stay in the present. Kohli and Rohit are both quality players. Hopefully, they have a successful tour in Australia,” Gambhir said.

Shubman Gill has taken over the captaincy from Rohit Sharma after the Indian selectors made a bold call while naming the 15-member squad for the ODI series.
Kohli And Rohit Begin Intense Prep Ahead Of Australia ODIs
Virat Kohli has been putting in intense training sessions in London, sharpening both his fitness and cricketing skills ahead of his international comeback after a six-month break. His last appearance in competitive cricket came on June 3 during the IPL 2025 final, where he played a key role in guiding Royal Challengers Bengaluru to their first-ever title win.
Just a day after the victory parade in Bengaluru—an event that unfortunately turned tragic due to a stampede that claimed 11 lives and left 33 injured—Kohli flew to London. There, he has been practicing indoors under the supervision of Naeem Amin, a coach linked with the Gujarat Titans, as part of his preparation for the Australia tour.
Rohit Sharma, on the other hand, has been undergoing a rigorous fitness and skill-enhancement program in Mumbai under the guidance of former India assistant coach Abhishek Nayar. Rohit has lost nearly 10 kg in a month through intense training, appearing noticeably leaner and fitter at a recent awards function, Nayar revealed.
Team India is set to play a three-match ODI series in Australia, starting on 19 October in Perth. The second ODI will be played in Adelaide, with the final match scheduled in Sydney on 25 October.
