Star Indian cricketer Virat Kohli encountered West Indies icon Wesley Hall before India’s Super Eight game in the 2024 T20 World Cup versus Afghanistan on Thursday, June 20th. At their meeting, Hall showed Kohli his book ‘Answering the Call’, and they took pictures together.
Hall had a successful time representing the West Indies from 1958 to 1969, participating in 48 Test matches. At the age of 86, he had bowled 192 batsmen out with an average of 26.38, achieving nine five-wicket hauls. Hall was recognized for his fast-paced bowling with his right arm, and he also excelled in first-class cricket, taking 546 wickets in 170 games.

Hall also mentioned to ANI that he presented the book to Team India head coach Rahul Dravid and captain Rohit Sharma, in addition to Kohli.
“I gave three books today. I gave a book to the captain and another one to the coach and Virat Kohli. All three of them are great players. It’s good to see people getting rewarded. Sometimes, you are a good player, and you haven’t made it. I think they have done very well for India,” said Hall.
Answering the Call focuses on Hall’s cricketing journey and career, detailing how he became one of the most legendary pacers in history. The book was published in November 2022, followed by the release of a second part earlier this year.
Virat Kohli seeks to recover in form during the 2024 T20 World Cup Super Eights
Virat Kohli has struggled unexpectedly in the 2024 T20 World Cup, managing just five runs at an average of 1.66 across three matches. Despite entering the tournament as the highest run-scorer in T20 World Cup history, the challenging bowling conditions in the US have hindered his performance.
As the tournament moves to the West Indies for the Super Eights and beyond, Team India will look for Kohli to return to peak form.
After facing Afghanistan, India will compete against Bangladesh and Australia to conclude their Super Eight matches. If Rohit Sharma’s team finishes in the top two of their four-team group, they will advance to the semi-finals.
India clinched their only T20 World Cup title in the inaugural edition held in South Africa in 2007.
