Apart from the run out of Tim David which made headlines, Virat Kohli caught a blinder in the last over which helped India win the warm-up game against Australia at the Gabba in Brisbane on Monday, October 17.

In the 20th over, Australia required 11 runs to win this warm-up game. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma handed the ball to Mohammed Shami, who hasn’t bowled in the game before.

The first two balls saw Pat Cummins collect four runs. The third ball which was a low full toss by Mohammad Shami was well-connected by Cummins, but Virat Kohli timed his jump to perfection to catch a one-handed stunner at the boundary. 

The effort left everyone in shock, including the Australian camp who had a clear view of the catch.

India beat Australia by six runs in the warm-up game

Australia won the toss and opted to bowl first at the Gabba. Fifties from both KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav powered India to a score of 186-7. Both were striking at over 150+ for the team. Rahul was seen dominating the power play by dispatching balls across the boundary and setting a solid foundation for the team.

From the Aussies, captain Aaron Finch top scored with a sublime 76 runs followed by a 35-run knock off 18 balls from Mitchell Marsh. Amongst the Indian bowlers, Mohammad Shami was the start of the show. Although he bowled one over but ended with figures of 4-3. It seems that he is in full rhythm which is a positive sign for the team. Even Bhuvneshwar Kumar had a good day picking up 2 wickets.

The last over saw the fall of 4 consecutive wickets. Australia lost 6 wickets in the last two overs and fell six runs short of the target.
