Indian cricket fans turned nostalgic as legendary opening pair Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag came out to bat for India Legends in the Road Safety World Series opener. Locking horns with the star-studded West Indies Legends, the counterpart held nerves to win the game by seven wickets. Meanwhile, Sehwag kept his routine intact starting the proceedings with a boundary – his trademark during his playing days. 

The jam-packed Wankhede Stadium was on their toes when the legendary duo came out to bat for since the 2011 World Cup final on April 2 when India defeated Sri Lanka to lift the trophy after a long gap of 28 years. They shouted their heart out to cheer for Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag. While the sight was not enough, Sehwag even made the fans more nostalgic striking a boundary of the first ball. The former cricketer from Delhi knocked two consecutive boundaries to give India Legends a quickfire start during their chase.

Meanwhile, earlier in the day, West Indies Legends were off to a great start with Daren Ganga and Shivnarine Chanderpaul stitching a 40-run partnership for the opening wicket. Captain Brian Lara came to bat at No. 3 and played a couple of delightful strokes before departing for 17. Chanderpaul slammed 61 runs off just 41 balls whereas, Tino Best played an entertaining cameo of 11 not-out off five balls to take his side to 150.

While it looked like a competitive total at the halfway stage but Virender Sehwag’s cameo of unbeaten 74 from 57 balls helped India Legends to walk home with the game.
