Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya was dismissed cheaply in the second T20I against South Africa on Sunday at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack. He walked back to the hut for just nine runs in the first innings of the match.

Hardik Pandya walked out to bat in the tenth over of the innings after skipper Rishabh Pant was dismissed. The all-rounder slammed a boundary during his stay at the crease off Tabraiz Shamsi. In the thirteenth over, he fell to Wayne Parnell for nine runs off twelve deliveries.

Parnell bowled a seam-up delivery that moved inwards and stayed low. Hardik backed away to cut the ball but missed it completely. The ball rattled the stumps, as Hardik was clean bowled. India was reduced to 90 for four wickets down. This was Wayne Parnell’s lone wicket in the innings. He finished the match with bowling figures of 1/23 in his four overs.

South Africa need 149 runs in 20 overs to go two up in the T20I series

The Indian team managed to score 148 runs in their 20 overs in the first innings of the second T20I at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack. Shreyas Iyer was the leading run-scorer in the innings, with 40 runs off 35 balls.

Batting lower down the order, Harshal Patel played a cameo of 12 runs off 9 balls, while Dinesh Karthik slammed a couple of sixes in the final over. He remained unbeaten on 30 off 21 balls.

Anrich Nortje was the pick of the bowlers for South Africa with two wickets in four overs, conceding 36 runs. Speaking at the mid-innings break, Nortje expressed that he was trying to hit hard lengths to trouble the batters. He said,

“Just hitting hard lengths is the best solution on this wicket. They took quite a bit of grass off when we came here. We just had to adopt on the day.”
