[Watch]- West Indies Team Celebrates As They Qualify For Semi-Finals After India’s Defeat Against South Africa

The West Indies women’s team celebrated madly after India’s exit from ICC Women’s World Cup 2022. In the final group stage match, India needed to beat South Africa to advance in the tournament. But, due to some errors in fielding and bowling, the team lost a nail-biting match.

Meanwhile, West Indies’ chances to qualify depended entirely on South Africa’s victory against India. They were closely watching the game from their Team hotel. As soon as Mignon du Preez hit the winning stroke, the entire West Indies team was spotted dancing in joy and excitement.

West Indies will now meet Australia in the Semi-final 1 on March 30. England and South Africa will play the Semi-final 2 on March 31.

Heartbreak for Team India

Half-centuries from Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma and Mithali Raj guided India to a decent total of 274-7. Harmanpreet Kaur also contributed with 48 runs off 57 balls.

During the run-chase, South African batters rotated the strike really well. This ensured that the required run-rate never went out of reach. At one stage, they needed 42 runs in 26 balls. Few dot balls would have shifted the match in India’s favour.

But that didn’t happen as the South African batters smashed 4 consecutive boundaries. However, there was one more crucial moment left in the match.

Deepti Sharma bowled the last over for India. 3 runs were needed off 2 balls. Mignon du Preez played a lofted shot in the long-on area and was caught by Harmanpreet. The Indians started celebrating sensing a victory.

However the joy was shortlived as the third umpire confirmed that it was a no-ball. The South African batters collected singles off the last 2 balls to take their side home.
