Australian skipper Pat Cummins pulled off a sensational one-handed catch on Day 2 of the second Test against the West Indies at the National Cricket Stadium in Grenada. The right-arm pacer covered significant ground and completed a clean catch off Keacy Carty’s edge, celebrating the dismissal enthusiastically on Friday, July 4.
The wicket fell in the eighth over of the innings, which was also the first over bowled by the New South Wales pacer. Pat Cummins lured Carty into a tentative push, causing the ball to loop off the edge toward the short leg area. With no fielder stationed there, Cummins dashed forward and completed a stunning one-handed catch.

Hazlewood Strikes Early, Cummins Follows Up With Breakthrough In First Over
Before Pat Cummins struck in his first over, Josh Hazlewood had already made an impact by dismissing Kraigg Brathwaite for a duck in the West Indies captain’s milestone 100th Test. Australia posted a competitive 186 in their first innings, thanks to key contributions from Alex Carey (63) and Beau Webster (60), with Travis Head adding a vital 29.
Openers Usman Khawaja and Sam Konstas gave Australia a solid start with a 47-run partnership in 10.3 overs, but a sudden collapse saw them reduced to 50/3. Returning to the side after recovering from a finger injury, Steve Smith, who replaced Josh Inglis, managed just 3 before falling to a short ball from Alzarri Joseph.
Carey and Webster also played pivotal roles in rescuing Australia during the second innings of the first Test in Barbados, both scoring half-centuries. Australia had clinched that match by a 159-run margin to take a 1-0 lead in the series. At the time of reporting, the West Indies were 124/4 in Grenada, still trailing by 162 runs.
