Indian wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha received an emotional guard of honor from his Bengal teammates when they played their Ranji Trophy match against Punjab on the first day at Eden Gardens. The teammates created a guard of honor to honor Saha because he declared retirement from cricket during the current Ranji Trophy tournament.
The players formed a respectful guard of honor when Saha stepped onto the field as they clapped in appreciation of his athletic achievements in cricket. The moving gesture showed the powerful effect Saha has established within the cricketing world.
Saha distinguished himself as a wicketkeeper throughout his career while also delivering useful batting performances. The guard of honor represented a perfect tribute to the long-standing dedication and sporting service that Saha has provided throughout his career.
“After a cherished journey in cricket, this season will be my last. I’m honoured to represent Bengal one final time, playing only in the Ranji Trophy before I retire. Let’s make this season one to remember!” Saha had posted on social media platform ‘X’.

The international Test career of Wriddhiman Saha ended when India faced New Zealand during December 2021. The right-handed batter participated in 40 Tests where he accumulated 1,353 runs, maintaining a batting average of 29.41 along with nine one-day internationals.
Saha refused the coaching position the Kolkata Knight Riders extended to him before the new season began. The end of Saha’s playing career triggers memories of his numerous accomplishments in Indian cricket, which will attract appreciation from fans. Saha’s impressive accomplishments as India’s excellent wicketkeeping batter-batsman will forever overshadow his last phase in cricket despite poor results.
