The opening Test of the series is set to commence on Friday, November 14, at the historic Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The second and final Test will get underway on Saturday, November 22, in Guwahati. Jaiswal was previously included in India’s ODI squad for the recent tour of Australia but did not get an opportunity to play in any of the matches.

Having missed out on selection for the T20I series, the young left-hander is now gearing up to make his return to action in the upcoming Tests against South Africa.

Yashasvi Jaiswal Continues To Impress With His Consistent Test Form

Yashasvi Jaiswal has been in outstanding form in Test cricket and has firmly established himself as India’s first-choice opener. In the recent home series against the West Indies, he was the standout performer, finishing as the top run-scorer with 219 runs in three innings at an impressive average of 73, including a superb knock of 175.

Before that, during the away series against England, Jaiswal showcased his class once again, amassing 411 runs across five Tests with two centuries and two fifties. His rich vein of form continued during the 2024–25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, where he emerged as India’s leading run-getter on challenging pitches.

The young left-hander accumulated 391 runs in five Tests, registering a century and two half-centuries. Since making his Test debut in 2023, Jaiswal has displayed remarkable consistency. In just 26 matches, he has already scored 2,428 runs at an excellent average of 51.65, including seven hundreds and twelve fifties.

Heading into the upcoming home Test series against South Africa, the 23-year-old will look to maintain his stellar form and continue to deliver solid performances at the top of the order.
