Allrounder Ramandeep Singh has revealed that he could have earned significantly more had he chosen to leave KKR before the IPL 2025 mega auction. While making this statement, he also took a sharp dig at his former KKR captain, Shreyas Iyer.
Iyer led Kolkata Knight Riders to the IPL title last year, with Ramandeep also in the squad. However, Iyer chose to enter the auction instead of staying. As a result, KKR did not retain him, and he secured an INR 26.75 crore deal with Punjab Kings, later becoming their captain for IPL 2025.
In a podcast on the ‘Raj Shamani’ YouTube channel, Ramandeep Singh disclosed that several franchises offered him lucrative deals to leave KKR and join them. However, the allrounder turned down these offers, choosing to stay loyal to the franchise that had supported him.
“You can’t leave a franchise at such a time that has helped you so much. If you’re leaving it for money, then it will be totally wrong. Other franchises were interested in me and told me that they are going to bid for me at this particular amount,” said Ramandeep.
“But I didn’t want to take this decision just for money because when I wasn’t such a (renowned) player, this franchise (KKR) supported me and I wanted to support them back,” he added.

What was the amount offered to Ramandeep Singh by other franchises?
In the podcast, Ramandeep Singh revealed that other franchises were ready to bid up to INR 10 crore for him. However, he chose to stay loyal to KKR and refused to leave when the team needed him the most.
“The franchises had informed me that they will go till INR 10 Cr for me. But I just wanted to play for them (KKR). I feel that IPL is such a platform where opportunities are very important. So, you need to give loyalty to a franchise if it is backing you. Money doesn’t matter that much,” Ramandeep said.
Criticizing Shreyas Iyer, Ramandeep stated that a player’s decision to leave a franchise solely for money reflects their character. He also shared his dream of winning a World Cup for India.
“Obviously, there are some players for whom money matters. But you’ve also played for INR 20 lakh for a team and if you’re leaving a team for some money, it will show your character to them. I didn’t have the vision to earn money. I just wanted to represent India and win a World Cup,” the allrounder added.
